Add to that a natural talent for handling people and for thinking on her feet, you get a sense of the phenomenon that is rising TV star Tanya Memme.
For Memme who originates from Canada, there was never any doubt she was destined for a career in front of the camera. From hosting LA’s weekly magazine show, ABC7’s Eye On LA to TLC’s hugely popular show Robotica, Tanya is set to host a new show entitled What’s The Big Idea and is also known as the face of DirecTV. Currently the host of A&E’s Sell This House – a mix of This Old House and Candid Camera – each week she helps viewers see inside the mind of the buyer and heart of the seller with real life experiences and great advice on how to prepare a house for the market.
Leaving rural Wainfleet, Ontario at the age of fifteen, Tanya embarked upon a modeling career through mentor Geoffrey Chapman competing in the Miss Niagara Pageant. Six months later she was crowned Miss World Canada. For Memme, a roller coaster sequence of events had taken place and an experience had been endured she now looks back on as ‘the best and worst’ all rolled in to one. With her hallmark intuition guiding her through it all and personal experience only few could claim, five months later Tanya made the shocking decision to give back her crown.
At the age of twenty-one, Tanya moved to New York, the big city and to pastures new. There she attended the prestigious American Musical & Dramatic Academy. As a trained actor and having developed a working relationship with the West Coast, in true bi-coastal style Tanya embarked on a career that came to encompass accomplished roles on The Practice, JAG and CSI Miami. She’s also appeared on Saturday Night Live with Sylvester Stallone, in Jungle 2 Jungle for Walt Disney Pictures and in the independent films Two Hearts One Soul, Below Zero and Lost Souls. She also hosted the Fan Cam for Sports Central on CBS. Some other hosting credits include Hollywood East, for CBS: The People’s Choice Awards and for Warner Bros. and Telepictures, Live On The Red Carpet.
To date Tanya has chosen to capitalize on her current success and former title as Miss World Canada and has undertaken motivational speeches in high schools. She teaches teens to believe in themselves and pursue their passion. In the process, Memme shows her own vulnerability and shares in her most embarrassing life moments, stressing the importance of integrity all along.
Memme follows her own spiritual path of furthering herself each and every day. She has a strong interest in the fields of psychology and spirituality and enjoys reading, in particular books like Tuesdays With Morrie, Talking To Heaven and books written by Marianne Williamson to name a few. She also enjoys learning about people and as a sucker for the facts loves to watch The History and Biography Channel. A keen traveler, particularly within the United States Tanya is also a devout animal lover and supporter of animal rights. With a distinct athletic and dare-devil side to her, from dirt biking to helicopter skiing – she has a passionate interest for living on the edge – Memme cites a recent favorite edition of Eye On LA where she took part in a stunt car feature. Recently she cycled in a 420-mile bike ride from Montreal, Quebec to Portland, Maine to raise funds for AIDS vaccine. As a humanitarian, Tanya again used her title as Miss World Canada this time while competing in the Miss World pageant, Sun City, South Africa: she worked for Operation Hunger helping children less fortunate. She also continued to give her motivational speeches to teens.
